I need a vacation to recover from my vacation

Well three weeks off of school and the last thing I wanted to do was any more photo's. I had it up to @&^$)^*) with shooting. As you can see, my son was of much the same opinion. But late one chilly night, I bundled up, grabbed a tripod ventured forth in a foul mood. I have always had a thing for construction cranes. I wonder at the Voodoo the engineers work to get something that tall to not fall over when lifting a load. I even wonder that the wind does not knock them down. but the only thing better than a crane, is a crane at night.

So as I was out there, I thought I might as well get a shot of Winnipeg's "Sky Scrapers". Wh
at a laugh, 25 stories and we think they are tall.

I have climbed rock faces taller than t
hose. But
..... this is what we have to work with and they do look not to bad at night.

On the subject of climbing I headed over to the ice climbing tower that the St Boniface chapter of the Alpine Club of Canada has. Ice..... last climb I did on ice was Shannon Falls on the way up to Whistler, BC. Man that was way back, 1991. That sure makes makes me feel old when I consider that a few people in the program were not even a twinkle in their parents eye.
Anyway back to the tower. It looks much more imposing
during the day. By now though, I had a beard full of ice and a runny nose, so I called it a
night.

Christmas........ Ba Humbug. I got exactly what I wanted this year. Santa was very good to me. Well not really......I sort of ju
st bought what I wanted, wrapped it up all nice an stuffed it under the tree. And in the morning I was so surprised. Just whatI always another camera. And it's a medium format Bronica.
The 6cm x 4.5cm format will be a great adition to my old twin lens reflex camera. Boy it came with all the goodies as well. Four lenses, exposure metering viewfinder, 4 film backs and a spare body. Why film you ask? Nostalgia? I don't know. I just like film. Yeah it's more fiddly than digital, but it is fun.

After spending couple of days in a tryptophan induced coma.......(gotta love turkey. Yum) I once again took to the outdoors and took a dogsled up to Gimli. Well.....not exactly a dogsled. More like a ford focus. But I digress, Gimli. I could not resist taking this shot. Airplanes have always been a passion for me. Warbirds more than private or commercial. But especially the older jets.

So here I am looking at the plane and along comes an ice shack. So off I went and watched them unload it, all the while asking myself what are those people thinking. Spending the day in a cold box trying to catch a fish, which if it had any sense would be as far away from the ice as possible.

Me.....that damn focus. 16" of ground clearance verses 8". yup got stuck in a snow drift. No problem I think to myself as I know I have a collapsable shovel in the trunk that I put in there just in case. So off I go to the trunk to find, you guessed it, no shovel. A quick call to my sweet mother an why yes I took it out because I needed more space to move some stuff. #&%*(&%( I think to myself " Just how much more space can you get by removing the shovel." Now I notice that the winter coveralls are also not in the trunk. An hour later with nothing but a pair of fleece mitts, I dig myself out and head for shore sound in my knowledge that anyone who comes out here for fun must be stark raving mad.

On the way home, I notice out of the corner of my eye a couple of old cars. So here they are.

Hibernate again. Hmm... sunny day, off to the river with my son.
What do I see, but wood, by now as you must have guessed I am out of creativity. It is like some one stuck a vacuum cleaner in my ear and sucked the life out of me. How could it possibly be this hard to shoot 10 little pictures. My mind still reels at the thought. Vacation, yeah right, stick a fork in me cause I am done.
